So what is Louis' "dark gift"? He is fairly strong, but all vampires are strong. Lestat can fly, is super-fast and can read minds. Louis is just really moody.
In the books, Marius explains to Lestat that not everyone turned into a vampire goes all "vampy". Sometimes they're little more than extra strong humans with a deadly aversion to sunlight.
Also, Lestat made other people vampires before Louis and Claudia, so his blood lost some of it's 'potency' for making progeny.

One of the funniest jokes I've ever heard was a joke from the movie "Bowfinger" (actually a terrible movie!). Steve Martin says something like "There are so many movies that are made without the actor knowing they are in it… Tom Cruise didn't know he was in that vampire movie until a few years after it was released!" LOL. I think it was the only thing funny about that particular movie. Hehe

I always was a fan of Anne Rice, she was the queen and there is another book The Wolf Gift and she did Prince Lestat, this movie was back in 1994 and I miss the old days when movies were movies and had some magic with it too! At first Anne Rice didn't Want Tom Cruise to play Lestat and Daniel Day Lewis, Julian Sands would have been perfect for this! Its a shame that Brad Pitt has aged and he looked really good here! Legends Of The Fall, Thelma and Louise, True Romance were my favorites of Brad Pitt! I had a crush on him when I was 16! I wouldn't mind being a vampire myself!

I was in love with both the book and the movie during high school, but seeing it after so long is bittersweet. This movie spear-headed the "modern vampire" idea and inspired many other great vamp movies out there, like Blade….but also gave us the shittiness of Twilight. So on the one hand, I'm grateful to Anne Rice for creating IwtV, but on the other, she effectively killed her own franchise when she banned and harassed creativity from the fandom (fanfiction and fanart being, naturally, the lifeblood of said fandom and original work). So in conclusion, thanks to Anne Rice, we have Twilight, and this movie/book fades from both generations' consciousness. It's a real shame.
