NARRATOR (SHAWN):
Welcome to spirit talking.
I’m Aboriginal medium
Shawn Leonard
and we’re visiting Qalipu
First Nation in Newfoundland.
The people of Qalipu have a
strong sense of community pride
and tradition that we share
today as we reflect on journeys
of reconnecting and
rediscovering at my live show.
SHAWN:
Why is he showing me
a piece of jewellery for you like a bracelet
for some reason? ANDREA:
The day before
he passed away I was making him a sea glass bracelet to bring
home to hang in his window. He’s got it in spirit. Are you a teacher
or something,
do you stand up in front
of people and speak somehow? ERICA:
I teach nursing. ‘Cause he wants me to make sure
you know he’s proud of you.NARRATOR (SHAWN):
Today I’m speaking with
Erica, Mildred and Andrea
as they reflect
on their experiences.
Well, welcome. MILDRED:
Thank you. What did you guys think
of the show? How was it? Trippy. (laughs) In one word,
it was kind of trippy. It was surprisingly emotional
in a good and bad way.SHAWN:
So what did you expect?
ANDREA:
I didn’t know what to expect
because for me it
all happened so fast. And after you did
your first reading for me it was kinda like, yeah my
dad is so gonna come through. He’s gonna push his way in,
it was good. Your dad was definitely
a character, isn’t he? He’s something. Erica, what did you think?
What was your experience? I didn’t really
have expectations but it was kinda like something
in the back of my mind about my grandfather,
I was like,I think I’m going
to get validation somehow,
either just be here or you know
I didn’t necessarily think I was going to get read but I
just felt, yeah, a connection that it was gonna
be a really good night. My husband,
he was open minded ’cause he said
I’m a half skeptic. He walked in the door,
“I’m a half skeptic.” (laughing) After my reading I looked
over and I said, “Half?” He goes,
“Don’t talk right now.” (laughing)ANDREA:
‘Cause it is really shocking.
‘Cause it was, it was
an emotional, touching thing and whether it’s a jovial
connection that you made with someone’s loved one
or just validation that they’re looking over us. You guys came to the show, you saw,
you had the experience.
How do you think this
is gonna change your life? How do you think
this is going to affect
the way you look at things
moving forward?
Myself, I’ll be more open,
which I am anyway. And more open to change and
more open to self discovery.ANDREA:
Forgiveness for yourself.
Cutting yourself a break.
Because I swear to God after
your reading you grew an inch. Because the load had been
lifted almost immediately. Oh. Such a relief.SHAWN:
Yeah, that’s a blessing.
Thank you,
thank you for sharing that.
And Erica, how do you feel?I’ve connected with spirit
through ceremonies so it wasn’t as though, I didn’t
come here for validation or that I didn’t
believe in spirit or that someone couldn’t
connect, that wasn’t it for me. It was those messages
that I received. Personal messages
that sometimes in ceremonyyou get glimpses
or pieces of the messages
that are being sent to you but to get so many messages
through you was so validating and life changing, I think,
to just open myself up more. I always go by everything
happens for a reason, that’s my motto and to kind of
recognize that the path I’m on is the path
I’m supposed to be on. That’s so awesome. Thank you,
thank you for sharing. Thank you. And I thank you
for being here today,so, wela’lin. Wela’lioq.
Nmultis and msit no’kmaq
and hopefully we’ll see you
all here again real soon.
