First witch, then werewolf, finally vampire. If you ever read these I would love to know. Reply Jeremiah Jackson says: November 13, 2014 at 1:36 pm I knew there was something I didn't like about this movie! Reply Neo-Xgray87 says: May 18, 2015 at 11:05 pm Am I the only one here who actually thought that this was one of Sandler's "okay" movies? I mean, sure, it's not one of his best films, but it's not terrible compared to Grown Ups 1 & 2, or Blended, etc. Reply רוני איתן says: June 12, 2015 at 11:10 am I actually liked this movie, but I am so glad to watch one person with an opinion completely different than mine. Reply Kefka Palazzo says: September 22, 2015 at 5:13 pm I get the feeling you simply just don't enjoy Slice-of-Life type stories, where there very rarely is any sort of enemy, it's just people living their life, and keeping that ind min, I really liked this movie ^^ Sure there were some problems, but most problems you're having seems to stem from the fact that this is a Slice-of-Life story xD Sure it has the supernatural part of being about monsters, but that doesn't mean it can't be Slice-of-Life xD But I'll agree with you on the subject of character development, we could have used some more of that, have an actual explanation for why Dracula is so cheery even though his wife just fucking died. Reply Kefka Palazzo says: September 22, 2015 at 5:18 pm Awww itty bitty Mavy Wavy <3 Reply Ghostwriter says: November 27, 2015 at 9:23 am It was an okay movie. Maybe worthy of being a guilty pleasure. I really don't hate Adam Sandler and I thought he would give a decent performance in this one. Also Genndy Tartakovsky directed this, the creator of Dexter's Lab and Samaurai Jack. And Selena Gomez is in this movie as Mavis aka "Mavy Wavy" and I'm fan of her from Wizards Of Waverly Placenon Disney Channel and got all her CD's with songs including Who Says and Same Old Love and yeah she's the only reason I like this movie. Heck this film does carry a story. Other movies like Madagascar doesn't need any story. Even SpongeBob. That show needs no story or messages, just nonsensical humors and characters. Reply Rua O'Neill says: November 6, 2016 at 1:27 am Thought this movie was so incredibly boring Reply Arianne Wingard says: December 9, 2016 at 12:08 am All your suggestions are great for fanfic aus .I do agree that there could be more drama . Another idea is have Dracula to give the humans who killed his wife one good scare . Reply Andria Miya says: March 6, 2017 at 1:37 am "Raised stakes" in a Vampire movie… I know bad joke. Reply Muticere says: March 28, 2017 at 12:48 pm One of the things that really bothered me about this movie is that there are no jokes related to these characters as monsters. The jokes mainly stem from them being characterizations of their voice actors. The Mummy had no jokes related to being a mummy. He had power over sand at one point, but other than that, all his jokes were fat black guy jokes because the actor who portrayed him was CeeLo Green. The Wolfman… shit I don't even know what his thing was, that he has lots of kids? What does that have to do with the classic portrayals of werewolf characters? Even if they were trying to make jokes around him being part wolf, so lets do dog/wolf humor, dogs and wolves as animals aren't really known for having a ton of cubs. So where does that even come from? It's not really funny. It's just weird. The invisible man had some funny bits and honestly the best joke came once from Frankenstein when Jonathan is dressed up as a frankenstein monster and passed off as related to Frank. Frank asks how they're related, and they go with parts that were used to make Jonathan happen to be related to one or more parts used to make Frank. That was funny, because it was an actual joke that would only work in this context. So yeah, I've always disliked this movie. I don't get why so many people, even critically minded people like Doug Walker, like it, even as a guilty pleasure. It's not funny, the art isn't anything special, and the storyline is frustrating and contrived. I don't even mind the movie not having a villain, that wouldn't be an issue if there were anything else to recommend about it. Reply Nate Watson says: April 25, 2017 at 1:53 am This was an irredeemably terrible movie, but it has interesting points:* There are real people who have grief, but hide it and pretend to be happy for the sake of those around them.* So you have a pleasure place where the weird can hide and be who they are without fear. Combine that with the fabulous outfits and lighting, and the hotel is clearly symbolic of a gay bar. Reply Mini Pie says: April 30, 2017 at 6:01 pm LoL you not a vampire 🌹😊 but it's funny. Reply Graeme Smith says: May 28, 2017 at 8:11 pm This movie follows sitcom logic, which is that the characters are idiots going crazy over something that real people would take in their stride. It's a classic example of the Idiot Plot, i.e., if the characters don't act like idiots, we have no movie. Reply Troy Wallace says: June 11, 2017 at 2:29 pm vampire boobies Reply Synn says: August 14, 2017 at 11:41 am just realized it's the same premise as Castlevania lol. Reply Jessica Emmas says: September 3, 2017 at 11:15 pm the time between the mother's death and the completion of the hotel would have been over a few years at least. specialy with mavis' extended growth Reply Lew Archer 1949 says: September 6, 2017 at 1:34 am I hate Adam Sandler with the fury of a thousand exploding suns. His voice, his smug face, his creative and intelligectual laziness. HATE!!!!!! Reply Zachary Matthew James says: September 29, 2017 at 2:24 pm Did the Wolfman say he was working up a sweat? Reply SNB Sixteen6stars says: March 25, 2018 at 4:57 pm hotel 3 is getting a villain who wants to kill all monsters so that's a improvement Reply Phea7 says: April 3, 2018 at 11:19 pm When I a see a movie like this one I wonder why people make non-monstery movies about monsters (ok, actually I know – because it's trendy, but you know what I mean). If you want a funny story about sympathetic, loving dad you REALLY don't need a vampire. I mean, such child-friendly vampires are stripped of everything that makes them, well, vampires. Don't get me wrong, my favorite vampires of all times are father and son, but they act like vampires, not like a cute model family. Reply NerdMafiaSV says: May 17, 2018 at 2:38 am Dude, there are so many orbs going around during this video! Was it, like, suuuuper dusty that day or was you place haunted? Reply Amanda Nield says: July 2, 2018 at 8:10 pm sorry but what is with all the hate for Adam Sandler just for giving his friends jobs? how is looking out for your friends a bad thing? the film industry in Hollywood is a really tough place to find work so having someone there to help you do it isn't a bad thing. that's the basis of every film maker/ actor relationship in Hollywood. hell even your work stems off it. all those appearances in nostalgia critics stuff and the colabs with Lindsy etc come on its rather hypocritical to be all hating on a guy for using his friendships to make films when you do exactly the same. and frankly its incredibly biased to dislike the film just because you don't like the guy who made it. Reply ოεցa oოεցa says: July 5, 2018 at 8:04 pm I only disagree on the animation. The guy who did it who I sadly forget his name- is a real genius when he combines all the cartoony-ness of2D with what 3D can do. There's so much movement and it's so lively, I really like it too bad it sucks… Reply Logan Moore says: July 25, 2018 at 9:27 am Will there be a review of Hotel Transylvania 3? Reply The Hermit Librarian says: July 31, 2018 at 3:35 am I forgot while I was watching this that it was an Adam Sandler movie, but now that I think about it, you're right about a lot of it and similarities to his other pictures. There were some funny things and I could appreciate them about this movie (Esmerelda was great), but overall? Kind of meh. I can totally see Jonathan/Andy Samberg/Jake Peralta now. lol Reply _helloyellow says: August 1, 2018 at 9:51 pm ‘Make me care’ is a line I love Reply Louis Thompson says: October 28, 2018 at 5:08 am Are you single? Reply GreyScaleAnon says: November 1, 2018 at 7:22 pm Considering how vampires (apparently) age, I think a lot of the "building the hotel" happened a few years to even a decade or so after the mother died. Reply TheCyberwoman says: March 19, 2019 at 7:41 am I don't disagree with your criticisms of this film, and I hate Adam Sandler, so I'm surprised that I actually dig the heck out of this movie. I think maybe a stronger movie might have an antagonist, but I'm not sure I'm mad at what this movie is. And what I think it is, is a film about generally good people trying their best and not getting it quite right. And while yes, if have liked to see Dracula greave a little more, that's one of my biggest agreements with you, I will offer the argument that since vampires have a longer lifespans, and it's of note that 118 is of importance to them as a marker of adulthood, it's hard to say how long it was from his wife's death to wear he is in those flashbacks. It's conceivable that a full vampire baby could be an infant for a couple of years at least. Which maybe adds validity to Dracula's overprotective nature, since their emotional intelligence seems comparable to an average human's, the emotional attachment he would develop over a century might be pretty intense. Reply hoibsh says: March 23, 2019 at 4:26 am Adam Sandler as vampire — ughlshghlglobbledegookapuka Puka PUUUUUUKKKEEE!! Can u hear me puking? Reply Kaefer1973 says: March 24, 2019 at 3:46 pm A movie doesn't really need conflict or an antagonist to be tense or entertaining, so I don't agree that their lack is the reason why it's not good. But a movie sure needs something more than mediocre old a sitcom plot. Reply Thomas Lindsay says: June 11, 2019 at 11:56 am I have seen this movie with my little cousin all 3 movies. It very cute for little kids and if only they can make real life movie for adults. That will be ineradicable movie with blood. MOHAHAHAa Reply Fif Gallag says: September 8, 2019 at 3:00 am the "scream cheese" bit was kinda funny tho Reply Ethereal Sky Daddy says: September 9, 2019 at 9:49 pm I have a very weird relationship with this film. It’s like I love everything about it… except the final product –so the film in itself! Hotel Transylvania feels like a waste of many talents and decent ideas (I’m a sucker for anything dark/spooky/halloween-related).Genndy Tartakovsky as the director still shows his skills, trying to incorporate as much cartoony movements as possible in a 3D film. The result is quite pleasing in my opinion, and serves to highlight the film’s only real source of decent comedy (slapsticks) and balance out the average 3D renders. The visual development is also great, and sadly you can’t really see it in the final production. I especially love Annette Marnat’s character designs https://www.pinterest.fr/pin/221591244142364526/ https://www.pinterest.fr/pin/363032419935462765/ https://i.pinimg.com/originals/84/71/30/847130cb7999c88a9ad6eeead47f7cd6.jpgand Noëlle Triaureau’s production designs https://www.iamag.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/noelle-triaureau-13.jpg https://www.iamag.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/noelle-triaureau-13.jpg https://www.iamag.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/noelle-triaureau-15.jpgTLDR: Don’t watch the film and get the Art Book! Much better! Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
